Welcome, I’m Diane Osgood.
I want to help you balance your buying with your values and vote for the world you want each time you shop.
Our shopping choices impact our health, our communities, the environment, and the economy in profound ways.
Chances are you don’t want your family exposed to harmful chemicals, your clothes stitched by slaves, or your food adding to climate change. Yet, many shopping choices lead to these unintended outcomes.
Here, you’ll learn to make informed choices about food, fashion, personal care products, household brands, and unique gifts. And you’ll dispel doubts about whether these choices will add up to make a big enough difference.
I don’t believe in guilt or shame as ways to create change. If you don’t believe in climate change or don’t care about your local community or labor rights, this isn’t the place for you.
I do believe that small changes in what you buy can further your happiness and positively impact your world.
A little about me…
I’ve spent my entire career helping companies produce and sell more sustainable and ethical products. I’ve been on the forefront of sustainability since before the word was commonly used.
You could call me one of the pioneers in sustainability, climate impact strategy, social impact, and human rights. I’ve served as an Advisor to the Clinton Global Initiative, Richard Branson, and the Vatican Arts and Technology Council.
And I’m excited to make this a place where I share tips, tools, and insights to help you make sense of the news and deconstruct deceptive marketing. (I’ll explain shady tactics like greenwashing!)
Why?
Because where you spend your money matters.
You vote for the type of world you want. Every. Time. You. Shop.
That’s what my latest book, Your Shopping Superpower: Follow your values and better your world one purchase at a time, will help you understand.
“Whether for your health, or for people and planet, this timely guidebook shows you how to unleash your power to vote for the world you want each time you shop.”
~Julia Ormond, Emmy award-winning actor and human rights activist
